An impressive video has shown the history of IGCC and finally arrives to the present edition in Beijing. The President of IGCC has given a Welcome message to everyone followed by Professor Guangwei Xu， Aiwen We and Zhouqiao Wu.

 

After finishing the video， Aiwen Wu PhD has conducted the ceremony introducing the different presidents， starting by the President of IGCC 2017， Professor Jiafu Ji. He has given a welcome speech and introducing the theme of the 12th IGCC: “Bridging Gaps to Improve the Management of Gastric Cancer”. The conference has more than 3000 attendees from more than 40 countries. 

 

The second welcome speech came from Professor Yan Xun， member of the Chinese Cancer Academy. He spoke about the importance of having the chance to exchange experiences and knowing the different way of treatments， mutual understanding and friendship.

 

Professor Bruno Zilberstein was the next speaker and thanked Professor Jiafu Ji for his enormous effort to organize such a big meeting. He also spoke about the great opportunity to see live surgery and meeting young Chinese researchers， and the way of opening the treatment in China to the World.

 

Some more welcome messages from Profesor Xishan Hao， who saw a great opportunity to interact and cooperate with different doctors， Profesor Daiming Fan， who spoke about the investment of the Chinese Government and Pharmaceutical companies to try to reduce the incidence of gastric cancer in China， and also about the exchange of new ideas that will facilitate the eradication. 

 

Professor Jianhua Lin， President of Peking University told the importance of bridging the gaps between clinic and basic academic research. He spoke about the strategic plan of the Chinese Government to implement prevention and treatment against different tumours for 2030， and how IGCC 2017 will be an opportunity for China to improve gastric cancer research. Professor Qimin Zhuan did also mention the attention that Chinese Government is putting in the prevention and treatment， which is an enormous challenge for China.

 

And finally， the Opening ceremony finished by Professor Sano giving and award to Young-Jae Mok .
